How to Apply for Employment with SCDCApplicants must submit an Application in order to be considered for employment. The SCDC Application may be obtained by clicking on the link above. Once received, the application is entered into the agency’s Applicant Referral System and an acknowledgement of receipt is sent to the applicant’s home address. The notification will include a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and instructions on how to use the PIN and the Agency Job Line (803) 896-5070 to apply for vacant positions. Required QualificationsApplicants must meet both the State Minimum and the SCDC Additional requirements for each vacant position except for Correctional Officer/Cadet (see below for the requirements). The State Minimum Requirements are often general to the job classification, while the Agency’s Additional requirements often require more education and experience specific to the vacant position. |

RN/LPN/CNARequirements: Salary:
Note: The full time salary for RN’s and LPN’s
is base salary and does not include the 2% salary incentive for
vacancies at all Level II facilities and 3% salary incentive for
vacancies at all Level III facilities. Shift Differential

Food Service Specialist IIIRequirements:
Experience in quantity and quality cooking and baking.
Salary: Based on Experience
Note: There is an additional 2% salary incentive for
vacancies located at all Level II facilities and a 3% salary incentive for
vacancies located at all Level III facilities.
Duties: Assist in training (continuous training program) and instructs all inmate cooks, bakers, kitchen and dining help in all phases of their duties to include daily sanitation; assists in training new personnel assigned to the cafeteria and in the performance of their duties. Acts as correctional officer by maintaining internal security of cafeteria (discipline of inmate employees and all other inmates in addition to maintaining security of all food supplies and equipment) and when performing shakedowns and escorting inmates from one location to another. |

Requirements: US Citizenship, 18 years of age,
High School Diploma or GED, No Criminal Record, Valid Drivers License.
If offered employment, must pass a physical examination administered by SCDC. Work Schedule: 12 hour Shifts, No Rotation, Two Weekends off per Month, Work only 14 days per Month Summary of Duties: Provides Security, custody
and control of inmates in a correctional setting. Salary per Institutional Level
